CoasterReady
About this site
One guide to the US theme parks: the facts that stay true for years, and the ones that expire — each labeled for which it is.
Last updated October 9, 2026
Independent and unofficial
CoasterReady is an independent, unofficial guide. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any park operator. Park assistance can clarify facts; it cannot buy favorable coverage, editorial control or advance approval of a review.
The planned October 15, 2026 Magic Mountain and Fright Fest visit has no expectation of complimentary admission, compensation, promotion or reciprocal coverage. Pre-visit source checks are separate from firsthand observations. A scheduled visit is not a completed visit or tasting.
Decorative images and video on this site are illustrative, including generated assets; they are not documentary photographs of the named park, ride or meal. Park imagery requires appropriate usage rights.
CoasterReady exists because theme-park planning content has a quality problem. Most of it is either an official page that will never tell you something is disappointing, or a listicle assembled by somebody who has not been in years and cannot tell you which side of the boat to sit on.
This site is built on three ideas. The durable facts — heights, ride mechanics, accessibility, what a snack costs — are worth getting exactly right and stamping with a date. The interpretive ones — is it scary, is it worth the queue, is that restaurant overpriced, is this month a good month — are worth an actual opinion. And a tool that works in your hand in the park beats an article about the tool every time.
Two kinds of fact, one site
Roughly half of what is here is permanent and roughly half of it expires, and the two are handled differently.
Ride systems can remain stable for years, but height requirements, accessibility procedures, dining, maps and operating status can change. Source-check dates record the claims actually checked; firsthand-visit dates are recorded separately. Events, hours, tickets and line-skip passes terms need date-specific confirmation.
Dated claims carry a confidence level and a review date. A source-check date applies to the claims identified as checked; it does not verify every record, current availability or a firsthand visit. Unknown prices, restrictions and locations stay visibly unverified.
What each confidence level permits us to state, and why the banner cannot be switched off, is on the editorial policy.
What we cover
Coverage is the ten parks on this site across five regions, held to the same standard on every page. Six Flags Entertainment includes the covered Six Flags-branded parks and Knott’s Berry Farm after the July 1, 2024 merger; LEGOLAND and SeaWorld retain their own park-specific terms. Within that:
- Attractions covered by this guide — recorded height requirements, ride systems, scare and motion assessments, and queue information. Current catalog records are separate from closed or historical pages. This is guide coverage, not a complete official inventory or a report of what is open today.
- Dining and snacks — restaurants with a standing character rather than a menu transcription, and curated snack lists with dated prices.
- Accessibility and maps — sourced guidance with outstanding location checks identified, plus printable coverage diagrams. A diagram is not the official geographic park map. Offline access requires prior caching and a device check.
- When to go — all twelve months graded, with crowd shape, cost level, climate normals, and the specific weeks worth targeting or avoiding inside each one.
- Events — Halloween haunts and family events across the covered park brands, plus the holiday programs that close the year. What you get, what you do not, and whether the price holds up.
- What things cost — ticket, line-skip passes, parking, and pass pricing, always as a range and always with the cycle the range describes.
- Closures — what is behind a wall at each resort, and how firm the reopening actually is.
- Tools — a height checker, a food tracker with conditional device storage and offline access after caching, a year-at-a-glance calendar, and a trip-timing ranker that reorders the months against what you personally care about.
What we deliberately leave alone
We do not publish daily crowd predictions or live wait times. Both have to be right today to be worth anything, and a static site rebuilt on a schedule cannot be right today. The operator's own app does that job with data we do not have, and we would rather send you there than be confidently out of date.
We also do not publish menus item by item, or anything else that changes faster than we can honestly recheck it. A page that pretends to track something it cannot track is simply a page that is wrong most of the year.
How it is written
Answer first. The opening sentence of a section states the conclusion and the rest of it argues for that conclusion, because a reader standing in a park with a phone should not have to read three paragraphs to find out what we think.
Verdicts are committed. Every month carries a letter grade, every ranked page picks a winner, every event page says who should skip it, and the snack and restaurant data marks the things we consider overrated. A guide that never says "skip this" is an advertisement with a different layout.
The full rules, including what each confidence level permits us to state, are on the editorial policy.
How we keep it accurate
Facts are checked against the operator's own published information first, and a correction changes the underlying data rather than the page. Every page that used the figure picks up the fix on the next build, and the verified month moves to the month somebody rechecked it. That is the entire reason this site is generated from structured data instead of hand-written pages.
It also means an error is worth reporting even if you only saw it on one page. It was almost certainly on several.
How it is paid for
A small number of affiliate links, and display advertising if and when it ships. Much of what this site covers cannot be bought through anybody but the operator, so most pages here earn nothing at all. The full accounting is on the affiliate disclosure.
Independence
CoasterReady is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (including Knott’s Berry Farm), Merlin Entertainments Group Limited or LEGOLAND, United Parks & Resorts Inc. or SeaWorld, or their subsidiaries or affiliates. Six Flags and Cedar Fair completed their merger on July 1, 2024; Cedar Fair, L.P. is retained only where relevant as a historical corporate or trademark name. Park, attraction, restaurant and event names are used for identification and editorial commentary. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Our editorial conclusions are not submitted for park approval. Written media authorization is a separate requirement for commercial capture and publication. The planned October 15 visit has no expectation of complimentary admission or compensation; no future visit is presented as completed coverage.
