Yankee Harbor carries the lighthouse-and-harbor theming from the park's original layout and holds its most historically significant ride: Batman: The Ride, the 1992 B&M invert built here first, before the model spread to every major Six Flags park.

The section's midways connect the entrance loop to the back corners, making it the natural crossroads — and Batman's compact queue a repeatable stop between longer waits.

Batman: The Ride

The original — the 1992 B&M invert built here first, ancestor of every Batman clone in the country.

This is the one that started it: the first B&M inverted coaster anywhere, opened at Great America in 1992, and cloned across the Six Flags chain and beyond. Every suspended-looping Batman in America descends from this ride, which makes a lap here a pilgrimage as much as a thrill.

Tips for Batman: The Ride
  • Ride it three times: once for each row band. Front for flight, middle for balance, back for whip.
  • The queue is themed and shaded — a reasonable midday stop.
  • Coaster historians: the plaque-worthy fact is 1992, first of the type, this park.

Superman: Ultimate Flight

The flying coaster — board seated, fly face-down through a pretzel loop and a course a few feet off the ground.

Great America's Superman is the chain-standard B&M flying coaster: the seats rotate to prone after the lift, and the course runs a couple of feet above the midways through a loop and near-miss turns. The pretzel loop — folding through a vertical loop while lying down — is the highest-force moment.

Tips for Superman: Ultimate Flight
  • Look along the track ahead, not straight down.
  • Ride at the afternoon lull; the slow load makes peak queues worse than the cycle justifies.
  • Glasses need a strap; the harness clamps everything else.
