Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain: what it is and whether it is worth it

Six Flags Magic Mountain runs Fright Fest on select nights through November 1, 2026, including the final weekend. Park admission or a valid pass covers the general event; haunted mazes require a Haunted Attractions Pass unless the selected bundle explicitly includes both. Maze Express and ordinary ride Fast Lane are separate products.

What you get, and what you do not

What you get

  • Scare zones and roaming actors after dark on scheduled Fright Fest nights.
  • Seasonal entertainment and Halloween atmosphere included with park admission.
  • Access to operating rides under ordinary park admission, subject to closures and hours.
  • A separate daytime family event, Tricks and Treats, on its own published schedule.

What you do not

  • Haunted maze entry with an ordinary park ticket or pass, unless the selected bundle explicitly includes maze admission.
  • Maze Express coverage from an ordinary ride Fast Lane purchase, or an assumption that Express is included with every Haunted Attractions Pass.
  • A promise that every maze opens at 6:30 p.m. or that every ride operates during Fright Fest; check individual attraction times and availability in the official app.
  • A scare-free evening for young children; Six Flags does not recommend Fright Fest for guests under 13. This is age guidance, not a stated prohibition on admission.
  • Re-entry after 9 p.m.

What it costs

  • Every guest needs their own paid park admission ticket or valid pass. General scare zones and shows are part of the scheduled park event; admission alone does not include haunted maze access.
  • A Haunted Attractions Pass provides maze access on the night selected. Buy park admission separately unless the selected Fright Fest bundle explicitly includes park admission and haunted mazes.
  • Express is a separate haunted-attraction queue upgrade unless expressly included in the selected product. Ordinary ride Fast Lane does not establish maze admission or maze Express coverage.
  • No October 15 checkout price is verified here. The event page’s advertised starting prices are not a quote for that Thursday; select the date and review admission, maze access, Express, taxes, fees and any parking inclusion before paying.
  • Re-entry is not permitted after 9 p.m. Plan any exit or return around that cutoff, and check the park’s current terms.

How to actually do Fright Fest

Thursday, October 15: the checked calendar

Checked October 9, 2026: the official date-specific calendar schedules Thursday, October 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. PDT (America/Los_Angeles). Wednesday, October 14 is listed closed. A closed adjacent day does not mean Thursday is closed.

The October 15 calendar lists Unleashed, the opening scaremony, at 6:30 p.m. and the Fright Fest event block from 7 to 11 p.m. The promotional event-page start and the calendar event block describe different parts of the evening; they do not promise all haunted mazes open at 6:30.

Recheck the official October 15 calendar before travel. Use the official Six Flags app for individual maze, scare-zone and show times and current operating changes.

Choose a scheduled night

The published September 18–November 1 range is not a nightly calendar. The 2026 event page includes selected October Thursdays: October 8, 15, 22 and 29. Do not assume every weekday or every Thursday operates.

Price the right admission and queue products

Compare park admission plus a date-valid Haunted Attractions Pass with a bundle that explicitly includes both. Add maze Express only if wanted and available; check whether the chosen product already includes it.

Keep ordinary ride Fast Lane separate from haunted-attraction admission and Express. For October 15, confirm the selected date, product inclusions, taxes, processing fees and parking before buying; a generic starting price does not establish the total.

Plan the family handoff and any exit

Tricks and Treats is the separate daytime family program on its own published schedule. Fright Fest is not recommended for children under 13; that warning is not an admission ban. Leave before evening scares if they do not suit your party.

Re-entry is not permitted after 9 p.m. Check current park procedures before leaving for a break.

The verdict

Worth considering for a coaster day that continues into nighttime scare zones. Budget for a separate maze pass if haunted houses are the point of your visit.

Worth it if

  • You want coasters and included scare zones on the same park visit.
  • Your group enjoys the after-dark atmosphere recommended for ages 13 and up.
  • You are willing to buy the maze add-on if haunted houses matter.

Skip it if

  • You expect haunted mazes to come with standard admission.
  • Your group needs a scare-free evening; choose Tricks and Treats during the day.
  • The park calendar does not list Fright Fest on your available date.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fright Fest included with admission?

General scare zones and shows are part of the scheduled park event, and every guest needs their own paid admission ticket or valid pass. Haunted mazes require a Haunted Attractions Pass unless the selected bundle explicitly includes park admission and maze access. Check the product terms for the date selected.

What are Fright Fest's final nights at Magic Mountain?

The scheduled closing nights are October 22–25, October 29–31 and November 1, 2026. The checked October 15 calendar ran 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. with the Fright Fest block from 7 to 11 p.m.; expect the same event block on closing nights and recheck the date-specific calendar before visiting.

When does Fright Fest run in 2026?

Select nights from September 18 through November 1. The event page lists September 18–20 and 25–27; October 2–4, 8–11, 15–18, 22–25 and 29–31; and November 1. This includes selected Thursdays, including October 15, but does not mean nightly operation.

Are all haunted mazes open at 6:30 p.m.?

Do not assume that. On October 15, the official calendar lists the Unleashed opening scaremony at 6:30 p.m. and the Fright Fest event block from 7 to 11 p.m. Check individual haunted-attraction and show times in the official Six Flags app; schedules can change.

Is Fright Fest suitable for young children?

Six Flags does not recommend Fright Fest for children under 13. This is a recommendation, not a stated age-based admission prohibition. Tricks and Treats is the separate daytime family option on its own published dates.

Do I need a maze pass or Express?

A Haunted Attractions Pass provides maze admission; park admission is separate unless an explicitly inclusive bundle is purchased. Maze Express is an optional queue upgrade, separate unless included in the selected product. Ordinary ride Fast Lane does not establish maze access or maze Express coverage.

What do final-night tickets cost?

Final nights use the same products: park admission or a valid pass covers the general event, haunted mazes require the Haunted Attractions Pass unless a bundle includes both, and Express is a separate upgrade. Checkout prices are date-specific and not published in advance — check the park's calendar for the night selected.

Can I leave and re-enter during Fright Fest?

Re-entry is not permitted after 9 p.m., according to the official event page. Confirm current park procedures before leaving for a break.

When does Fright Fest end in 2026?

The 2026 edition ends Sunday, November 1. Magic Mountain's scheduled closing nights are October 22–25, October 29–31 and November 1. Recheck the official date-specific calendar and app before visiting, because hours and attraction openings are set per date.
