What it is
X2 is permanently retired. Six Flags’ retirement announcement is the source for its current status; this page remains as a historical record and does not recommend queueing or riding it.
X2 opened as X in 2002. Its trains used rotating seats on an additional axis, allowing the rider’s orientation to change independently of the track during drops and turns.
The later X2 version added onboard audio and effects. Those features describe the former ride experience; this page makes no claim about the cause of retirement.
What riding it was like
Historical experience: the rotating seats changed orientation during the first drop and subsequent elements, making the ride distinct from a conventional fixed-seat coaster.
This attraction is no longer a current riding option. Use the park’s operating attraction list when planning a visit.
Is X2 scary?
Historical ride description: independently rotating seats changed orientation during drops and turns; onboard audio added loudness. X2 is permanently retired.
Scores are editorial, on a 1–5 scale, judged against what frightens a typical four- to seven-year-old rather than an adult.
