Closures

What is closed at southern-california

Attractions down for refurbishment or closed for good at southern-california, with what we can actually support about when they come back.

Expected — not yet announced · Checked October 2026

X2’s official Six Flags retirement announcement and Hometown Station’s March 2025 reported park confirmation of Superman’s permanent closure were retrieved through verified HTTPS in October 2026. The Superman report attributes confirmation to Magic Mountain President Jeff Harris through the Orange County Register; it is not a closure announcement on the legacy official attraction page. The existing Montezooma’s Revenge entry was not reverified in this batch.

Tracked closures

Checked October 2026.
Attraction	Park	Status	Expected back	Notes
Montezooma's Revenge	Knott's Berry Farm	Closed indefinitely	as part of the Fiesta Village redevelopment	The 1978 flywheel-loop shuttle closed amid Fiesta Village's reimagining, and its return timeline has extended repeatedly. The park has indicated the ride is expected back; treat that as intention rather than schedule, and check the park's attraction list before promising anyone a ride.
X2	Six Flags Magic Mountain	Permanently closed	Not coming back	Permanently retired per Six Flags’ explicit announcement: https://www.sixflags.com/blog/retiring-x2-magic-mountain. Added from the October 9, 2026 review findings; the announcement date is not asserted here. A surviving legacy attraction page does not override the announcement.
Superman: Escape from Krypton	Six Flags Magic Mountain	Permanently closed	Not coming back	Permanent closure reported by Hometown Station in March 2025, attributing park confirmation to Magic Mountain President Jeff Harris through the Orange County Register: https://www.hometownstation.com/santa-clarita-news/community-news/six-flags-announces-permanent-closure-of-superman-ride-542671. Evidence type: reported park confirmation. The still-online official attraction page is a legacy ride description, not a closure announcement: https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/attractions/superman-escape-krypton.
