Boomtown is where the park's oil-heritage theming plays out in derricks and mining facades, and its landmark is the Shock Wave — the 1978 Schwarzkopf double-loop coaster whose back-to-back loops are visible from the highway and have been the park's postcard for nearly fifty years.

The section also holds family flat rides and the boardwalk games. Shock Wave at 42 inches is the section's entry point for the coaster-curious — a genuine classic at a genuinely low height bar.

Shock Wave is the park's resident monument: when it opened in 1978, its two consecutive vertical loops were a world first, and the ride is often credited as the machine that launched the modern coaster wars. Nearly fifty years later, both loops still deliver, and the 42-inch minimum makes it one of the lowest height bars for a genuine multi-looping coaster anywhere.
