The tower section is the park's geographic center and holds its biggest single thrill: Titan, a Giovanola hypercoaster whose 245-foot drop and helix sequence make it one of the most forceful rides in Texas. The queue's scale matches the ride's — this is where the biggest lines live on summer days.

Around Titan the section carries classic flat rides and the tower itself. It is the natural midday zone: central, loud, and the place the crowd funnels through between the park's two far corners.

The New Texas Giant

The 2011 wooden-to-steel conversion that started the entire modern hybrid-coaster era — a 79-degree drop on a wooden structure with ejector airtime.

The Texas Giant was a 1990 wooden coaster famous for its size. In 2011 Rocky Mountain Construction replaced its track with fabricated steel and rewrote the layout: steeper than wood allows, faster than the original, with airtime hills that throw rather than float. The conversion worked so well it spawned a decade of imitators — Twisted Colossus, Goliath at Great America, Iron Rattler in San Antonio — making this ride arguably the most influential single coaster of the century so far.

Tips for The New Texas Giant
  • Back car for the airtime — the ejector hills are the ride's signature and strongest there.
  • Ride mid-morning; the queue builds by eleven and holds all afternoon.
  • Lap bars only: this is one of the best big coasters for riders who dislike shoulder harnesses.

Titan

The 245-foot Giovanola hypercoaster with the 120-degree overbanked turn and the spiralling finale that makes strong riders see grey.

Titan is the biggest thing between the coasts at this chain: 245 feet tall, 85 miles per hour, and a course that spends its speed through enormous turns rather than hills. It is the sister design of Magic Mountain's Goliath with a Texas-scale layout bolted on.

Tips for Titan
  • Ride after 16:00 — shorter queue, cooler queue, and the g-tolerance is better hydrated.
  • Front row is where the grey-out happens; sit mid-train if that is not your idea of fun.
  • Do not ride Titan immediately after lunch. The helix finale is unforgiving.
